Will Rogers State Beach

Overview:

Will Rogers State Beach is a good place to spend the day on the beach exploring the surrounding area of Santa Monica and Malibu. The beach isn’t known for its great surfing but is right on the bike path to take you to the Santa Monica Pier and beyond.

Adventure:

Will Rogers State Beach is a great beach to park your van or RV and spend the day. The beach is less crowded than Santa Monica and Malibu and offers plenty of parking and lots of sand.

The beach is one and three-quarters mile along and includes volleyball courts, playground, and gymnastic equipment. The beach is great for families as it is popular doe surfing, surf fishing, sailing, and windsurfing.

Marvin Braude Bike Trail

The Marvin Braude Bike Trail starts at Will Rogers State Beach and goes south for 21-miles to Torrance along the beach. The is a fun beach trail that passes thru Santa Monica, Venice, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. The trail is a great way to see many beaches in LA and see which one you like the best.

Baywatch

The beach has had numerous television shows and movies filmed. including the hit television show “Baywatch.” You can see the Baywatch lifeguard building still being used by the LA County Lifeguards.

Surfing

The surf here is your typical beach break and is a good place for beginners to practice their skills and get more comfortable in the water. However, for more experienced surfers, I recommend going north to Malibu.

Parking and Fees

There is plenty of parking with wide parking lots for you to park your van or RV. The parking is metered, and you pay upon entering the park at a kiosk.

Please be advised, Will Rogers SB is one of the few California State Parks that does not accept the Annual Day Use Pass.
